.:Core Gaming:. - A Brief History The Last Great American SWBF Clan, and CA/COD4 Uber Pwners! |
Foreword by French:.
In an environment as competitive as E-sports, the strive for perfection is pushed to its limits by many teams and clans. Core Gaming has developed this art, and we believe we've managed to strive for our goal much harder than many of our opponents. Our philosophy is one of continuous improvement both in small increments and large step changes, which is clearly demonstrated in our successes and developments annotated in our "Past Glories" pages. Core Gaming has developed from a small group of globally renowned and seasoned gamers playing StarWars: Battlefront in July 2007 to a world class gaming organisation operating across multiple games, with a sizeable trophy cabinet ranging with successes across StarWars: Battlefront, Alliance of Valiant Arms, Combat Arms, Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4, and other games. This coupled to our ability to attract and satisfy sponsors has developed Core into a veritable power-house gaming organisation, which shows no sign of stopping both in terms of achievements, fame, and global reach.
History:.
Core Gaming burst onto the SWBF1 scene on the 1st July 2007 with a pro team looking to take it to the top. We began an immediate winning streak only ever losing a map after 59 consecutive map victories, powering the clan to 19 consecutive match knock-outs, which notched up 10,340 tickets along the way in one go. This record breaking streak was the most consecutive maps and tickets ever won by a team in SWBF1, powering us way past the greatly admired -=Storm Commando Clan=- records set in the early BattleFront days.
The team eventually went onto dominate the American SWBF pro “Gamer Rampage” series, winning the latter 4-0 in the finals versus a demoralised {NJO} in February 2008. This coupled with a top 5 spot in the EU ESL 5on5 ladder (running a principally American team) had the team’s reputation firmly cemented as one of the best in the world, and at the start of March, .:CORE:. had won over 1.5 times as many points per match as anyone else in the ESL.eu SWBF ladder, which showcased the cream of the EU SWBF community at the time. This was, in most of our opinions, time to call it a day in competitive SWBF. We retired as the last great American SWBF clan, unbeatable by all but a minute handful of SWBF's elite.
With the USA release of Combat Arms, Core’s north American activities soared once again with iKoN returning to form a new team under the organisation. By the end of its career towards the end of 2009, the team had been officially ranked #5 in America by Nexon, and had achieved a podium rung in the universally respected Wogl.org Season 2 S&D Tournament, cementing its reputation as a stellar team within the community.
Early 2009 also saw Core Gaming announcing an EU COD2 team which eventually ranked in the top 200 in CB.eu S&D, along with top 350 rungs in the 3on3 and 2on2 ladders too. The team planned its final tournament to be the Fall 2009 Clanbase COD2 Open Cup, unfortunately just missing out on playoffs due to ping issues in their final group match.
Our longest running team has been in COD4, running since release and owning TWL ever since, taking top rung positions in almost each ladder it’s played ever since it joined ranging through S&D, TDM, and even Sabotage and HQ, and frequently locking out the top rung on all 4 of TWL’s most popular ladders simultaneously, and even with 1-2’s with our COD4 Beta team at times.
Not stopping there, the COD4 team has also had notable successes at Europe’s most active gaming league, ClanBase. The team’s played up to top 250 rungs in the S&D ladder, and almost breaking the top 100 in the S&D 3on3 ladder too.
Having since taken an AVA Team to the semi-finals in an ijji-sponsored 10k league, and signed a league-topping Team Fortress 2 team in the summer of 2010, Core Gaming is reaching for the sky and continuously developing. The addition of a fully fledged administrative and managerial team to support French in summer 2010, has shown the class and abilities Core Gaming has to offer. With website developments and team improvements coming aplenty, the team has proved its weight in gold, supporting and developing Core's existing in-house talent.
The above has combined to make a sizeable list of teams and successes, being achieved in a regular stream ever since July 2007. This has allowed Core Gaming the privilege of announcing its first corporate sponsor on its second birthday, as DediFrag.com confirmed their faith in us with a lengthy EU sponsorship deal. Subsequent sponsorships have also been signed with ProClanHosting.com as our head North American sponsor and GamingDeluxe.co.uk on our global webhosting package – cementing Core Gaming as a now stable and secure team, able to run and support teams across the EU and North America.
Summary:.
The aim of this outfit has, and always will be to enjoy gaming, and to us enjoyment comes with victory, and being in a comfortable environment. We take matches seriously, but have a great time whilst doing it, and take pride in our ability to just "fuck about" between ourselves at other less important times. We're not a group of guys who believe you have to be in a team to have mates in there, and love mixing with other people in the community if they're a good laugh, and can bring something unique to the table. Core Gaming considers itself one of the premiere “global” gaming organisations, and is always on the lookout for new talent, or entire customer teams to carry our flag proudly, and win.
